Company History and Values
David Pearce and Son Ltd continues to work tirelessly to understand the needs of its clients and offer free clear and concise detailed quotations that you will understand and be confident in.
The company was formed as David Pearce Building Contractors in 1983 and was run by my father, David Pearce after spending over 20 years as a contract’s manager for a large local builder. I joined the company in 1984 and became a partner in 1991, when the company was renamed David Pearce and Son. The company became incorporated in 2004.
During the development of the company we have worked on many varying contracts from the very small up to the larger more prestigious contracts including Beechcroft Care Homes, Torbay Council, Mencap, The Post Office and the Idle Rocks Hotel in St. Mawes. Covering many very different needs from private homes where we work around the needs of the family to maintain a family life, to commercial contracts where other needs occur, for example, in the case of the care homes where we work with staff to keep vulnerable elderly residents safe whilst the construction proceeds.
We joined the Federation of Master Builders in 1999 Where we became members of their Build Assure warranted builder scheme (formally Masterbond) We feel that as we have to undergo regular site appraisals, where the standard of our work and our customers satisfaction are monitored in a random way outside of our control it is the only scheme where our customers can have peace of mind. I have not altered my opinion even with all the internet based trade checking websites which I feel do not carry out stringent enough tests. Because of our membership of the scheme we are able to offer our clients an independent warranty on all our jobs tailored to suit their needs. The warranty is similar to the 10 year new home warranty given on a new house. We also became members of the government-run TRUSTMARK SCHEME which was introduced in 2007 To help to eradicate the notorious cowboy builders that still blight our industry today.
In 2004 we became members of the approved contractors list of the RADON COUNCIL and we have designed and carried out many radon removal schemes around the southwest, during this time we have never failed to bring a house down to below the government action level, we continue to use this knowledge and techniques in our projects today. Many times building radon protection in above the requirements of the local authority at no cost to the client.
Our years of experience and our working relationship with several local authority building control officers allows our customers to have peace of mind in our workmanship. We offer a design and build option working with several local architects to help realize your dreams and find cost-effective ways of creating and designing stunning homes and extensions.
Whilst we over a complete construction package with our regular quality tradespeople we also recognize that many clients like to use their own trusted electrician, plumber or other tradesperson and we will liaise with these to ensure the smooth running of the contract until completion.
We pride ourselves in an outstanding workforce all fully trained in their fields and project manage all our of jobs to create a finished product all of us can be proud of as well as making the whole process as stress-free as possible.
We will make your house into your dream home.
